CPD, Training and Development
Strand Two
Once the infrastructure is in place the next step is access to CPD, training and development for the school. Southwark schools can benefit from peer-support and CPD training, provided for free, by London-based Demonstrator Schools through a programme supported by London Grid for Learning (LGfL)
In collaboration with LGfL we have designed a online self-assessment tiering system in line with the Government’s expectations for remote education (please note our self-assessment is relevant to your school’s online offer only and not the complete remote offer) .
The tiers are “Steady (Phase 1), Ready (Phase 2) or Go (Phase 3)” and this webpage will provide guidance on identifying your online learning needs
Action: Find out what phase your school are in by sharing the self-audit tool with your online learning lead and discover what support is available to develop your provision further.
We hosted a free demonstration event on the 11th December, delivered by LGfL to share a successful case study of how to set up an online learning offer and develop it across the school. This was a very practical session with lots of opportunities to ask questions and observe good practice. To view that session see Resources.

- The leadership sessions are focused on the strategic aspects of online learning, they will focus on procurement, teacher workload and policy and will culminate with designing and developing you school digital strategy and vision.
- The SLT sessions will be led-discussions and the sharing of case studies (one member of the team and demonstrator school) with Q&A time - with a view that further drop-in surgeries or 1:1 support is offered by the Demonstrator setting.
TEACHING AND LEARNING SESSIONS
- On the same day practical teaching and learning session take place from 4-5pm.
- The teaching and learning sessions are more practical. The teaching and learning is a mixed method of approaches of examples and case studies that demonstrate the use of technology and discussions.
- You can invite as many members of your teaching to attend as possible.
How do I register?
Schools will need to complete a PID form on behalf of LGFL. You only need to complete this once regardless of how many teachers or SLT member will be accessing the sessions and register for sessions via zoom.
Zoom registration links for the sessions:
For SLT Teaching and Learning programme; https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJAucOGoqD4qGtKcxnUBUiaiaXa8RenusvZR
For Teacher’s Teaching and Learning programme; https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMsceusqTssEt0OkWLc5_6-E4m20GpL3lWb
Please note that you will have to complete the PID prior to first session but this will reserve your schools place in the first instance.
How do I access the sessions ?
The sessions will be delivered via zoom – using the same link every week will hopefully make it easier for your SLT and teachers to join
Do I have to attend every session?
The same person doesn’t have to attend every session. You may have different teachers attend the teaching and learning sessions and different members of SLT depending on the focus. To get the most out of the programme we do recommend that you send at least one member of SLT and teaching and learning staff to every session.
Can NQTs attend?
Yes we actively encourage attendance of NQTs at the teaching and learning sessions and this can be part of their training and support action plan.
Who is delivering the sessions?
Mr Paul Schalker, Head of Computer Science and ICT at La Sainte Union Catholic School and also an LGFL EdTech Demonstrator.
