Prevent is part of the statutory safeguarding duty for ALL early years and childcare providers, focusing on safeguarding children from exposure to extremism or harm. This short online training session will give you and your staff the opportunity to meet Southwark Council’s Prevent Education Officer and find out about our supportive local process for getting advice around this issue. Katherine Andrews, will cover the risk picture within our borough, vulnerabilities to radicalisation and signs that might indicate there is a concern. You will look at the Southwark referral process and have the opportunity to engage in a few case studies to extend your understanding of how the Prevent Duty is applicable with in early years and education settings.
The Statutory EYFS (2021) 3.7. States: 'Providers must have regard to the government's statutory guidance ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ and to the ‘Prevent duty guidance for England and Wales’. This short online session is for ALL early years practitioners, leaders and managers in ensuring they are complaint in meeting their statutory duty to safeguard children.
