Becoming a Governor

Types of governor and size of governing body

The attached Constitution of Governing Bodies - Statutory Guidance document, also found in the Policies section of this website, describes on pages 11-14 the different categories of governor, how they are appointed or elected, and who is eligible for each role.  Whilst academies have a greater freedom to determine the constitution of their governing body, pages 14-15 also sets out many governors in each category maintained schools should have.
